How to make the dog vomit

First of all, keep in mind that making your dog vomit at home is an ill-advised practice that you should only carry out in exceptional cases. If you think your dog has ingested any food or object that can harm him, it is best to take it immediately to the veterinarian. If for some reason you can not take your dog to the vet after having ingested, for example, a large piece of chocolate, a medicine, or some food that contains caffeine, you can try to make him vomit so he can throw it out of his body as soon as possible, and then take him to the vet.

If your dog has other medical problems, look at these items made by our veterinarian.

Steps to follow:

To make your dog vomit, dissolve a little salt in water in a small spoon.

Carefully open your dog's mouth and introduce the salt water directly into his throat.

Do not be scared, it's normal if your dog starts to have gagging. If you have not vomited after five minutes, you can try repeating the operation once more.

If you try one more time and the dog has not vomited, it is better to take it to the vet to look at it. Even before any doubt of illness, it is always recommended to take your pet as soon as possible to a veterinarian.

  • Take your dog to the veterinarian if you think he has been able to ingest any food harmful to his body.
  • Never try to make your dog vomit if you think he may have ingested a sharp object, such as a nail.
