How to disable AVG antivirus

Although it is usually not necessary to disable antivirus programs before installing new software or drivers, some installers and software wizards suggest that you first close the running programs and applications to ensure that there are no unwanted interruptions during the installation process. In AVG Anti-Virus, the main module (Resident Shield) is usually the only component that needs to be temporarily disabled.

Steps to follow:

one

Click on the "Resident Shield" icon located on the right side of the taskbar and select "Open the AVG user interface."

two

Double-click on "Resident protection" in the center of the AVG user interface window. Alternatively, click on "Tools, " then "Advanced Options, " and then select "Resident Protection."

3

Disable the Active Resident Protection option in the Resident Protection configuration section, then click "Save Changes". This will disable Resident Protection, but it will keep the email scanner and other active virus protection functions.

4

Install your new software or drivers, then repeat steps 1 to 3, referring to the section "Active Resident Protection." Click "Save changes" to activate AVG again. Close the AVG user interface window, then restart the computer
