How to make a survival knife with bones

If you are ever stranded, whether in your car, in the desert, or at home during a natural disaster, a knife may be the only thing that saves your life. It can be used to make rafts, kill animals, help establish broken limbs and cut firewood, among many other essential aspects of survival. Making a homemade survival knife from materials found in nature is not difficult.

You will need to:
  • bone
  • rock
  • Wood
  • rope
Steps to follow:

one

Find a large bone, such as a deer or other large animal. An elongated bone, like a leg bone, is best.

two

Place the bone on a rock in the ground . Break the bone with another hard object. Be very careful when turning your head while doing so, as the bone fragments can hit very hard. It is best to break the bone in a length of a human arm.

3

Select a sharp and good-sized piece of fragments to create your knife.

4

Sharpen the blade by rubbing it along a rock. Do this for each edge on both sides. Rub from the inside out, along the plane of the sheet, not the edge.

5

Add a handle by tying a piece of hardwood over the bone with a strong rope or vine.
