How to make a homemade compass

The compass is an instrument that helps us to orient ourselves on the earth. Indicate where the north is. It is perfect for when you make excursions. You will need to:
  • A horseshoe magnet
  • Three needles
  • A small strip of paper
  • Clay
  • Adhesive tape and scissors
  • Glass container
  • Pencil

First of all hold a needle by the eye and rub it gently 6 times with a magnet . Always move the magnet in the same direction.

Then rub a second needle in the same way. Fold the paper strip in two halves and attach the needles to it with tape, as seen in the drawing. Both needles must point in the same direction.

Then he pushes a third needle into a small pile of play dough . Balance the paper on top of the needle so it can rotate. Mark one end of the paper with an S and the other end with an N.

If you want to take the compass out of the house, hang the paper with a thread and tie the thread to a pencil and let the paper hang inside a glass container as in the drawing.
