How to line a book with paper

Textbooks are carried everywhere, thrown on desks and generally worn more or less throughout a school day or while doing homework. Sharp handling can cause the cover to become damaged and wear. One solution is to use decorative wrapping paper to cover textbooks, helping to protect books from damage. You can use plain brown wrapping paper or the type of wrapping paper found at any card store in a wide variety of styles and colors. You can change the cover of your textbook to reflect seasons or vacations throughout the year.

You will need to:
  • Gift Wrap
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Art tape
  • Large sticker stickers
  • Glue
  • Puff pastry painting
Steps to follow:

one

Select the wrapping paper or plastic wrap you want to use to cover your textbook. Place the wrapping paper on a table with the right side facing down

two

Place the textbook on the lining paper, but keep the book closed. Draw the outline of one side of the book, then flip the book over and draw a line around the other side. Remove the book.

3

Cut out the traced shape, adding 6 centimeters to the sides. Put the book back in the paper version. Fold the sides on both sides of the book, and glue the folds in place, at the top and bottom, with art tape. This will create a pocket on each side.

4

In order to embellish the cover of the book, place large stickers of stickers on the front and back of the wrapping paper cover. Select stickers that are complementary to the designs of the wrapping paper. For example, if you use Easter paper, select a label or decal from an egg or a bunny.

5

Use glitter glue or puff pastry paint to tighten on the edges of the sticker decal. This will hide the edges and make the cover look more decorative and artistic. Allow the glue or paint to dry for 20 minutes.

Tips
  • Check with your school to make sure that your design choice does not conflict with the rules about what can be shown by students.
