Therefore, we must present a medical certificate that corroborates it, issued by an authorized medical center. To learn more about this procedure, we explain how to get the medical certificate to drive.

Steps to follow:

one

When taking the medical certificate to obtain or renew your driving license, it will be necessary to look for an authorized medical center near your home, where they can carry out the recognition and the issuance of the certification.

two

In some cases, it will be necessary to ask for a prior appointment to be able to pass the medical tests, although there are currently many centers where it will not be necessary to carry out this previous step. Check with the establishment you have chosen.

3

It will be necessary to present your National Identity Document (DNI) or Foreigner Identity Number (NIE) in order to obtain the medical certificate to drive. In case you are going to renew your driver's license - and not to obtain it for the first time-, you must also deliver the old document.

4

Currently, it is not usually necessary to take photographs to renew your driver's license, but in the medical center they will carry them out. In case you wear glasses or hearing aids, it will be necessary to wear them.

5

In general, the tests that must be performed to obtain the medical certificate are:

  • Psychometric evaluation : anticipation of speed, visual motor coordination, reaction capacity ...
  • Hearing control
  • Visual capacity test
  • Exploration of the general state : pulse, blood pressure, etc.

Once passed the tests, the medical certificate will be issued and, currently, the medical center can take care of all the procedures for the renewal of your driving license. In this way, in addition to the price of the certificate, you will have to pay the traffic fees and you will be given a provisional permit so that you can drive while you do not have the definitive driver's license, which you will receive by ordinary mail at your home.
