What are the ten commandments

When a child must do communion, he goes before catechism, where he is taught the teachings of the Bible and, among them, he has to learn the ten commandments, also known as the law of God. According to the Bible, Moses climbed Mount Sinai and remained at the top for 40 days. During that time, God gave him two tablets on which were written the Ten Commandments. The first commandment is ' Love God above all things .' This means that God must be put before everything else. The first commandment means that one must nourish the faith and reject everything that opposes it.

The second commandment is ' You shall not take the name of God in vain '. This command forbids the false oath, that is, using the name of God to make believe that what is affirmed is true.

The third commandment is 'You will sanctify the festivals '. In this mandate the Christian is asked to go to Mass on holidays, that is, on Sundays and the days set by the church as days to keep.

The next commandment is ' Honor your father and your mother '. With this command, God wants the whole world to understand that not only should he be thanked for giving us life, but that the same should be done with the parents.

The fifth commandment is ' Thou shalt not kill '. This mandate prescribes to preserve and defend the integrity of human life and prohibits everything that threatens the dignity and life of people.

The sixth commandment is ' You shall not commit impure acts '. In this case purity is associated with a virtue, and acts such as adultery are considered non-pure and, therefore, the Bible does not allow them.

The seventh commandment is ' Thou shalt not steal '. He urges not to misappropriate other people's objects.

The eighth commandment is ' You shall not speak false testimony or lie '. This mandate prescribes the duties related to truthfulness and honor, aspects that are taken into account throughout all the commandments.

The ninth commandment is ' You shall not consent to impure thoughts or desires '. This commandment commands to live purity from within and forbids all internal sin against that virtue, that is, impure thoughts and desires.

The last commandment is ' You shall not covet the property of others '. The tenth commandment demands that greed be banished and urges us to try to be happy with what we have.
