How to install Mac OS X Lion using the UniBeast USB stick

UniBeast and MultiBeast is the easiest method to do a quick installation of Mac OS X Lion or update any Snow Leopard system. In fact, this USB flash drive can also be used as a rescue boot unit for system recovery. In the following guide we explain, step by step, how to install the operating system without having to know coding, terminal work, or counting with previous experience of any kind.

You will need to:
  • One USB of 8 GB or greater.
  • Installation application for Mac OS X Lion or USB OS X Lion.
  • A Mac computer.
Steps to follow:

The first step is to buy the Mac OS X Lion operating system, it is not free. The easiest way is to download the application from the AppStore. If you have a problem during installation, you can only download it again by following these steps.

Create a removable boot drive using UniBeast . To do so, read the following article.

You're almost done! Now you need to install Mac OS X Lion . To do so, you just have to boot from the USB drive. Your hard drive must be set in the BIOS to AHCI mode. For recommended BIOS settings and screenshots, check out iBoot + MultiBeast.

If you have a Gigabyte motherboard, press F12 to select the boot device. Choose USB-HDD.

When you reach the installation, choose the language. If you are upgrading an existing Snow Leopard installation, skip to step 10.

At the top of the menu select 'Utilities', and open 'Disk Utility'. Highlight your destination hard drive for the Lion installation in the left column and click on the 'Partition' tab.

Click on the "current" folder and choose a partition; press 'Options ...' and select the GUID partition method.

In the name write 'Lion' (you can change it later) and, in format, Mac OS Plus (with registration). Click on 'Apply' and, later, on 'Partition'. Close 'Disk Utility'.

When the installer asks you where you want to install, select 'Lion', or the existing installation. Once finished, restart the computer. The installation is complete, but the unit can not be started yet. Start from USB, this time select 'Lion'.

If you have a Gigabyte motherboard, press the F12 key to choose the boot device. Choose USB-HDD and, in the 'Chimera' boot screen, select your new Lion installation .
