How to make a backup in Windows 7

Making a backup of the data you have on your computer with Windows 7 is very simple. Although it can be done with external programs, the Microsoft operating system has its own tools that are pre-installed that allow you to make these backups and even program them as often as you want in a relatively simple way. To help you keep your computer safe, in .com we explain step by step how to make a backup in Windows 7.

Steps to follow:

one

First of all, you must decide where you want to save your backup, it can be on an external hard drive connected to a computer, on another computer with which you are networked or even on a partition of your hard drive. To start, click on the Microsoft icon on the left and then on Control Panel.

In the next window that opens, to make the backup in Windows 7, you must press, in the System and security section, to make a backup copy of the computer.

3

If you have not yet made any backup on this computer, you will have to provide a series of data to the system so that you know how to proceed. To do this, you will have to click on the right in Configure backup copies.

4

The first thing to do is select the destination of the backup copies, that is, where they will be saved. In the center of the screen you see a device named Data, which is our partition of the hard disk that we have destined for the backup.

The system will detect all the devices capable of hosting the backup in Windows 7 and you must select the one you want. In this case, we only have the Data. We select it with the mouse and then click on OK.

5

Now, we have to choose between two options offered by Microsoft:

  • Let the system by default choose the data you think you should copy and, in addition, make a system image that would allow us to restore all the equipment.
  • Choose us from what data we want to backup .

We chose the first alternative.

6

In the next window, we have the option to change the programming of backup copies. By default, they will be made every Sunday at seven in the afternoon. If we want to modify this data, we click on Change programming.

7

Then, we have access to a panel to change the frequency of the copies and even uncheck the option of these being programmed. If we do this, we will have to go manually to make a backup when we are interested. We decided to leave the program as it is. We press OK.

8

Now, the backup in Windows 7 is already being done. The time it takes will depend, basically, on the volume of files that you have to back up. As you can see, it is easy to make backups, a task that we recommend you do at least every week to avoid disappointment.
