How to remove a virus from a pendrive

For a long time now, the diskettes and CDs have been replaced by the pendrives when transferring information from one computer to another (now little by little they are being replaced by the cloud). The pendrives are nothing but small portable hard drives, something that has made them very attractive for cybercrime: who has never had a virus in a USB pen ? Sometimes it seems that eliminating these viruses is impossible, but it is actually quite simple. In .com we tell you how to erase a virus from a pendrive step by step.

Steps to follow:

one

Start with the easiest: analyze the pendrive with your antivirus and, if it detects something, delete it. You could solve the problem that fast.

two

If the antivirus does not work, touch the process manually. Open a folder on the desktop and see there, one by one, the files of the pendrive . Do not copy entire folders, since the virus could go with them, and do not copy files that you do not have clear what they are.

3

We check what letter the computer has assigned to the pendrive : in My Computer, locate the USB disk and write the letter (E, for example).

4

Now that we have that backup made and we know what the letter of the pendrive is, we need to format it . For this, we open the Windows console (Start, Run and write "cmd" - without quotes). There we write "format" and the letter that we have written. If it was E, "format E" (without quotes). We press enter. The pendrive will be formatted.

5

Before copying the files back to the pendrive, it is worthwhile to pass the antivirus also through the computer to prevent a virus from making the jump to USB again .

6

Copy the files again on the pendrive . It is already free of viruses.
