How to connect a Mac mini to a TV

Apple Mac Mini is a small desktop computer designed for use with an external monitor, unlike consumer models, produced by the company, which have integrated screens. One of the video ports found on the Mac Mini is the Mini DisplayPort, which can be used with a variety of video adapters. Unfortunately for users hoping to connect the Mac Mini directly to a TV, Apple does not offer a Mini-DisplayPort to RCA adapter, however, with the union of two different adapters, the same goal can be achieved.

You will need to:
  • Mini-DisplayPort to VGA adapter
  • VGA to RCA adapter
  • Composite video cable
Steps to follow:

one

Turn off the Mac Mini . Disconnect all cables connected to Mini DisplayPort from the computer, which is located on the back panel of the computer.

two

Plug the Mini-DisplayPort to VGA adapter into the Mini DisplayPort of the computer. Connect the VGA to RCA adapter to the end of the Mini-DisplayPort VGA adapter. Connect the yellow end of the composite video cable to the yellow port on the VGA to RCA adapter.

3

Connect the other yellow end of the video cable to the corresponding video input port on your TV. Turn on your television. Tune the TV to the input channel that corresponds to the input port you are using.

4

Turn on the Mac Mini, and enter in the usual way. Open the Apple menu and select the "System Preferences" option. Click on the icon labeled "Sample." Adjust the screen settings until you are satisfied with the quality of the image that appears on the television.

Tips
  • On new TVs, you can use an HDMI - HDMI cable to connect the HDMI port on the back of the Mac Mini to the corresponding port on the television.
