How to use a PS3 controller on a computer

Did you know that you can play video games on your PC using the PS3 controller ? You do not have to complicate annoying keyboard configurations or an uncomfortable joystick to play your favorite games online. You just have to follow these steps and add the convenience of a PS3 controller to your PC gaming experience.

You will need to:
  • USB Cable
  • Windows XP or higher

Download the PS3 DualShock3 driver file from to your desktop.

Uncompress the file.

Connect the PS3 controller to the computer using the USB cable. The lights on the controller should start blinking.

Go to the "Control Panel" from the Windows "Start" menu and click on "Systems."

Click on the "Hardware" tab in the window that appears. Next, click on "Device Manager."

Click on "human interface devices" on the "Device Manager" screen. Below it will appear the option "USB Human Interface Device". Click on it and select "Update driver."

Click on "Install" from a list or specific location in the pop-up window. Select the option "Do not search I will choose ..." on the next screen. Click on "Next"

Click on "Have Disk" on the next screen and then choose "Browse" and select "Desktop." From there, click on "ds3 drivers" and select "ds3drv1.02". Keep clicking until you reach the "double download" start file. Open and install the file.

Go back to the control panel and click on "Game devices". Select " PlayStation 3 Controller " and go to "Properties". Press the start button in the center of the PlayStation controller. Next, you should see the cursor in the box to the left of the window to respond to your control command when you move it.
