How to pray with Rosaries

Muslims, Buddhists, Christians and many spiritual people use prayer beads to remember their beliefs, call their faith or guide them through regular prayer and meditation. Like beaded jewelry, a necklace of prayer beads can crumble when manipulated or after years of normal use.

You will need to:
  • Nylon or rat tail rope
  • Chain
  • Pliers
Steps to follow:

one

Count the accounts to make sure that none is lost. Catholic rosaries usually have 59 accounts. If there are different accounts for the "Our Father" and "Hail Mary" prayers, it should be six large accounts and 53 smaller ones. Muslim prayer beads usually have 100 spheres, 99 small and one elongated grain at the end. The Hindu and Buddhist can have 30 to 108 grains - 108 beads are typical of monks, while 30 or 40 are more typical of lay believers. Also count the grain spacers used in the construction of the chain.

two

Examine the chain to determine if it is recoverable. If the chain seems weak, it will be better to replace it to avoid stringing the pearls again in the near future.

3

Select the beads and replacement chain at a bead store or craft store. Take your beads or string with you to select items that match your rosary. Choose nylon strings or rat tail for a strong line. If your beads were linked in a chain, select strings or links that better match the size and material of the old links. The material of accounts can be significant, so try to select the grains with the same material, such as color and size. For example, Buddhist prayer beads are traditionally made from Bodhi tree wood or seeds, bone, amber or semi-precious stones.

4

Put the beads in the nylon or rat tail in the style of the old bead chain, usually the beads are strung one after the other, with one or several beads of separation between them or with one or more knots.

5

Connect chain links together with pliers to open each link and close around the previous relationship.

Tips
  • If you make a Rosary, start the chain with a cross. Next, place three small accounts and one large account, then five "decades" consisting of one large account and 10 small ones. There is usually a space between the large "Our Father" beads and the 10 "Hail Mary" beads.
  • If you are making a string of Mala beads, of uniform size, end up with a large counting and tassel account.
  • If you are making a Muslim prayer chain, put the 99 grains together followed by the long terminal grain.
