How to recognize hallucinations

Hallucinations are a psychosensory disorder, they have to do with a sensory perception but in the absence of the object, that is, it occurs without the stimuli that normally trigger it. That is, the person actually experiences the sensation, for example that is burning, however, there is no stimulus (like fire or some hot element) to explain their sensation. The person feels this experience as real, which differs from the illusion, since the latter has to do with a distorted interpretation of a stimulus that actually exists. Hallucinations can be experienced through different sensory organs, that is, there are visual, tactile, olfactory, auditory, gustatory hallucinations of the body and motor schema. Next, we will introduce you, how to recognize hallucinations.

Steps to follow:

one

Auditory hallucination This type of hallucination is the one that occurs most often. The person "hears" sounds or voices that come from outside, which are located in the space in which it is located. For example, listen to the radio speaking directly to him. This type of hallucinations can be seen in schizophrenia, in paraphrenia and in acute delusional psychosis. The person suffering from these hallucinations experiences them as real.

two

Visual Hallucination It has to do with false visual perceptions, these can be simple or complex. It can refer to moving or still images, life size, girls or large. It is common, in alcoholic delusions, the zoopsies that are hallucinations that refer to spiders, vipers, etc. Generally, this type of hallucinations usually occurs in organic pictures, but it can also occur in the acute symptoms of schizophrenia and in acute delusional psychosis.

Olfactory and gustatory hallucination . The olfactory hallucination implies the perception of bad odors, strange smells, such as burnt rubber. This type of hallucinations have a strong affective tone and are very representative of what the subject is going through. The olfactory hallucination usually appears together with the gustatory hallucination. The latter refers to the perception of flavors, usually refers to unpleasant tastes, which have a high persecutory content, as for example they want to poison. These types of hallucinations usually occur in schizophrenia.

4

Tactile hallucination Are those hallucinations that occur at the level of the skin, implies the perception of being touched, having something on the skin, etc. This type of hallucinations are common in alcoholic delusions and in schizophrenia. The person feels pricks, burns, tingling. It is common the feeling that insects crawl under the skin. This type of hallucinations are rare in relation to others.

5

Hallucination of the corporal scheme. It has to do with hallucinations of the general and internal sensibility. This type of hallucination is characteristic of schizophrenia, related to the depersonalization syndrome. Also common are genital hallucinations that refer to touching, rape at a distance, among others. They can refer to the whole body or parts of it. For example, you may think that you have two hearts, or that you have a metal hand.
