How to prepare a letter when leaving a church

Every person has periods of doubt in their faith . This is normal and even healthy, since you can invite yourself to examine your own faith and reconnect with your Higher Power, even more strongly. However, if you find that your current church is not for you, you may have to formally resign so that it will remove your name from the members. How do you do this? It goes according to your church, and even the preferences of your religious leader.

Steps to follow:

one

Investigate the process to leave the church. For example, if you are leaving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In many other sects, such as independent Baptist churches, you only have to write a letter to the church office.

two

Write your address Skip a line and write the date. Ignore the other line and write the name of the church representative, the title and address of the office on separate lines. If the letter should go to different people, write only the name of your religious leader and include a CC line, at the address inside, and include the names of all the other people to whom the letter will be sent. The CC line allows all parties involved to know who sent the copies to each office. This can prevent unnecessary phone calls informing you that you need to send additional letters.

3

Write "Dear Mr. / Mrs. / Rev. (Name of religious leader)", followed by a colon. Again, just refer the letter to the main religious leader of your church.

4

Specify that you and your family are leaving the church from today. Make a list of their names. That's all you need to write. Avoid explaining your reason. The letter is not the place to do it. You should have discussed your doubts or problems with your religious leader before you made the decision to leave.

5

Close the letter by writing "Respectfully" and leave three spaces. Write your name. Print the number of copies you need to send by mail and leave a copy in your files. Sign on each letter above your written name.

6

Send copies of the letters to each office if necessary.
