How to organize a prayer breakfast

A prayer breakfast provides a form of communion in a church or organization and gives attendees the opportunity to join in prayer on a common theme. Planning a prayer breakfast does not have to be something complicated. Ask for help from the congregation or group and your prayer breakfast will run smoothly.

Steps to follow:

one

Select your target audience for the prayer breakfast. Some include only rural women in prayer or only men. But you can also have events aimed at teenagers, families or open them to everyone.

two

Select a theme for the prayer breakfast. The topics can be very broad, such as focusing on prayer for spiritual growth and guidance, or they can be narrow, such as focusing on praying for the victims of a natural disaster or the last members of the church who are going through an evil moment.

3

Find a location for breakfast and reserve space for your planned date. If the event is based on the church, talk to the pastor's secretary, or the person in charge of scheduling the room. The public pavilions for picnics in a local park, can also be an option for the meeting, if the weather is warm.

4

Schedule funding for breakfast. Charging the admission may cover the cost of the event, but may exclude those on a tight budget. Requesting donations for the event in terms of food, money and supplies is an alternative.

5

Form a committee within your congregation or organization to help with the breakfast planning process. Assign each member a specific task such as cooking, installation and decoration. Hold several meetings before the event to make sure everyone is properly on the task.

6

Plan the program for the prayer breakfast. Invite any speaker to talk about your chosen topic. Prepare a calendar for the event programs and print them so that attendees have a reference during breakfast.

7

Announce your prayer breakfast once the details are firmly in place. Put an ad in the church bulletin. Print fliers and posters to hang throughout the church or organization. Place an ad in the newspaper if the event is going to be public.

8

Arrange for access to the prayer breakfast location, about two hours to three hours before the start of the event. Use the time to accommodate the space, prepare the food, decorate and prepare for the arrival of the attendees.
