To make a saline solution for babies you will need:
- One cup of water, preferably packed
- ¼ teaspoon salt without iodine
- A pinch of baking soda
- A dropper or container with sprayer

Start by adding the cup of water to a saucepan, bring it to a high heat and let it boil, when it reaches the boiling point turn off the heat. This step is important because the ingredients will dissolve better in hot water than in warm or cold water.

Once you turn off the water, add ¼ teaspoon of salt and a pinch of baking soda. Stir well to mix the contents for one minute and then let it settle, saline solution for babies can only be used when it is warm, so it is very important that you check its temperature before applying it.

Once warm, add it to a dropper or nasal spray and apply it on the baby's nose. It is recommended to use in the next 24 hours although you can keep it for a few days in the fridge. This is an absolutely safe way to decongest your baby's nose and relieve cold and allergy symptoms.
