If you have lost your password and need to create a new one, you can also do it through the iTunes application.

Steps to follow:

Double-click on the iTunes icon on the desktop to start the application.

Insert one end of the USB cable from the iPod touch to a USB port on the computer, and the other end to the USB port on the iPod Touch.

Find "Devices" in the left pane of the iTunes screen and click on the iPod Touch icon.

Click on the "Summary" tab of iTunes and click "Restore."

Select and click "Restore", and click "OK."

Click on "Restore from backup". You will see a drop-down list. Select iPod Touch. Click on "Continue".
