How to paste subtitles .srt to movies .avi

There are quite a few programs that allow you to paste subtitles to a movie in .avi, but for this tutorial we are left with AVImux, since it is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux. Download it at //avidemux.sourceforge.net/ and install it.

When you have installed Avidemux, open it. Go to File> Open to open the .avi file to which you want to paste the subtitles.

In Video Output, select Mpeg4 ASP (xvid4). The button that says " Filters " will be activated. Click on it

The Video Filter Manager window will open. In the first column click on "Subtitles". And then double-click on SSA / ASS / SRT.

In the new pop-up window, click on "Open" and select the .srt subtitle file . Click on OK

Click on "Close" Do not go to "Preview" : for some strange reason, the subtitles are not shown in the preview.

You will return to the main screen. Leave "Copy" selected in Audio Output and AVI in Output Format.
