How to make a half knot

The half knot or knot "8" is the popular knot by experience, it is well known and the easiest to make. It is used as a stop knot and is executed at regular intervals on rescue ropes. Its main function is to make a stop when the rope is passed through a hole or needle eye, in such a way that the rope does not escape. It is difficult to undo when wet, so it is not used much in navigation.

Steps to follow:

Start making the middle knot or knot "8", taking the rope from one end.

Take the tip of the rope and pass it over the rest of the rope, see image.

Pass the tip of the rope under the same string.

To end the "8" knot, insert the end of the rope through the ring that had been formed in the previous step. Stretch the tip to finish the knot.
