First, you must surround the place (in our example the pole) where you want to make the knot with the rope, with the firm one on top and the small one below.

Then you must take another turn, in the same direction, with the whip above the previous one.

Finally you must introduce the chicote inside the breast that has been formed when taking the second round, above the firm.

To finish the knot of the ballestrinque, you must unzo pulling the firm and the whip. Think that it is good to leave a certain length of margin to the chicote, because it can slip something.

You can make a safety loop on the same rope, to prevent it from coming loose.
Tips- You should never use this knot to tie a boat to a ring or a noray, as the bowstring can be released if the tension is released.
