How to prepare a restaurant table

A table arrangement is more than an arrangement of cutlery and glasses, but it provides cohesion to a gastronomic establishment, a place where the appearance of the table has a great effect on the expectation of the diner, and their enjoyment of the food. Knowing how to make a restaurant table is a great skill that you can use at any party or meal to provide a touch of class.

You will need to:
  • Necessary cutlery
  • Necessary dishes
  • Necessary glasses
Steps to follow:

one

Set a plate of food in front of the chair for each seat, and put a plate of salad on top of the plate.

two

Place a dinner fork to the left of the plate, with a salad fork to the left of the dinner plate, and a dessert fork to the right. Alternatively, you can place the salad fork on the right, with a fish fork to the left of the dinner fork, if you plan to serve fish.

3

Place the dinner knife to the right of the plate, with the blade facing inward toward the plate. Put a fish knife to the right of the dinner fork, with the blade turned inward, towards the dinner fork.

4

Put a teaspoon to the right of the fish knife, followed by a soup spoon on the right side of the teaspoon. Finish the right side of the cutlery with a cocktail fork on the far right, next to the soup spoon.

5

Place a plate of bread over the fork, to the left of the plate. Place a butter knife horizontally across the plate, with the blade facing down and to the left.

6

Place the three glasses in a triangle down, above the knives and spoons. The glasses should be aligned with the bread plate. Place the glass of water in the left corner, the white wine glass in the right corner, and the red wine glass in the lower corner.

7

Place a plate with a cup on top of the glasses to the right. The saucer should be placed between the cups and spoons. Fold a cloth napkin into a triangle, and place it to the left of the fork, with the main point facing left.

Tips
  • You can eliminate two of the wine glasses of the place if you do not have varieties of wine during the meal.
  • Do not leave to set the table right before your guests arrive, or the tables will look messy.
