Exercise to test my memory

Memory tests can help you determine if your memory is still good and you can track your progress through the exercises. There are several ways in which a memory test can be performed, which are all effective and have their individual utility. You can take a memory test at home and write down the results. This exercise will take only a few minutes.

Steps to follow:

one

Print 10 photo cards with simple images, such as a banana, a beach ball or a balloon. Create a copy of each one to make a total of 20 photo cards or 10 couples. Use your computer to print the photo cards on plain paper. You can find these images online, or you can take your own photos and upload them to your computer with a USB cable or by inserting the memory card of your camera into your computer and uploading the photos.

two

Place the memory cards face up on a flat surface to show your images. Distribute them randomly in five rows, with four cards in each column.

3

Try to remember the image in each tile and the respective position of your partner. Do this for 30 seconds before turning the cards to face the table or the ground.

4

Gather the cards by flipping them one by one. Turn over a card and then try to turn your partner around. Take note of the number of times you turned a mismatched card and compare it to the number of times you turned the correct card. If you have been wrong more often than you were right, you can use this test to improve your memory.

5

Repeat the test. To improve your memory, repeat this test as many times as necessary.

Tips
  • This test can be useful if you regularly forget things, such as where you left your car keys. However, if you forget things like the names of family members or how to get to your home, consult your doctor because this type of forgetting can mean more serious problems.
