How to quote a Tweet from a user

Twitter, an online social networking service, that allows you to communicate short messages of 140 characters or less. To cite a Twitter message, you have to format your citation according to the style of the American Psychological Association (APA) for topics related to the social sciences, such as business, criminal justice, economics and law, and medical issues, including nursing and psychology. And you have to use the style of the Modern Language Association (MLA) for issues related to the humanities and the liberal arts, such as literature, mass communications and media studies.

The first thing you have to do is determine the appropriate format for your citation: APA or MLA.

Then, you have to quote the author of the tweet using the APA style in writing, in the Twitter format using the "@" symbol and the Twitter name followed by a period and space. Add a parentheses mark, the year, a comma, and the month and day that the author published the tweet with a parenthesis and period mark. For example, "@ BarackObama. (2009, July 15)."

You have to enter the full text of the tweet, followed by the post address on Twitter and a point. For example, "Launch of American Graduation Initiative to help more than 5 Million Americans graduate from college by the year 2020: .. //bit.ly/gcTX7"

Enter a space and quote the website from where the information will be retrieved. For example, "Obtained from //twitter.com/BarackObama/status/2651151366".

Appointment with the MLA style in writing to the author of the tweet in the format of the Twitter handle with the "@" symbol, the name of Twitter, the period and a space. You also have to quote the title of your publication. For example, "@ BarackObama .Web message registration."
