How to request a previous appointment to renew the passport

Having the updated passport was never so easy! Through the new website in charge of the General Directorate of Police you can renew or request, for the first time, the NIE via Internet. This new service is designed to offer a prior appointment to all those minor applicants that lack this identification document, as well as to request the renewal of this one. However, it will not work for all those of legal age who lack it or who are children of foreign parents without NIE; in these cases, users should go to the dispatch office and request the procedure personally. If you are interested in requesting an appointment to renew your passport easily through the Internet, follow the instructions below:

  • A computer.
  • Internet access.
  • A passport.
Steps to follow:

Go to Citapreviadnie.es and then select 'Start the application'.

Remember to change the type of document from DNI to NIE .

Enter your passport number .

Indicate the date of validity of your NIE, this information is located on the front of it and informs to what day the identification document is valid.

Fill in the support number field; This number is located right in the upper right corner of your passport .

Enter the characters that appear at the bottom of the web page and select 'Send Data'.

Choose which operation you want to perform; in this case, click on 'Passport', within the 'Individual Appointment' section.

Where do you reside? Mark the province where you want to renew / issue your document .

Select the name of the Office where you wish to complete the process .

To finish, indicate the month, the day and the hour that you prefer to occupy a date of previous appointment .

  • If you are under 14 years old, your tutor must complete the information.
