It has happened to all of us: they send us or we download a spreadsheet and, when we try to open it in Excel, we get a surprise: it is in csv format, a series of numbers and commas that we do not understand and that does not work well in the Program. Is there any way to move from that kind of files to xls, the one that works perfectly with the Microsoft Office application? Fortunately, yes, and it's very easy. In .com we tell you how to import csv files to excel.

Steps to follow:

one

Open Microsoft Excel and select "new document."

two

Click on File> Import.

3

A window will open asking you what kind of file you want to import. Check the first option ("CSV File") and click on "Import".

4

A dialog box will open for you to choose the csv file that you want to import in Excel. Select it and click on "Get".

5

Select the corresponding option in the Import Text Wizard. In the case of csv files, it is usually "Delimited". Click on Next

6

On the next screen, select which content separators are in the original file. Usually it's about tabs and commas. If you are not sure, open the CSV in Word and check how the data is separated. Click on "Next".

7

In this step, you can choose column by column how you want the data to be converted. The most advisable thing is to choose "General". Click on "Finish".

8

Select if you want to insert the data in the sheet you already have open or create a new one. Click on OK

9

The data will appear as a table in the Excel spreadsheet. If you click on "Save", the program will let you save the file in xls format.
