How much should my labrador puppy eat?

Dogs are very faithful companion animals, but they also require our care. Especially when they are puppies, like human babies, they need more attention. In particular, the farmer is the most popular breed in the world, because it is the one that has more copies registered. They are intelligent, kind and very docile. If they give you a Labrador puppy, you will have one of the easiest dogs to train, and a faithful friend for life. So that you know how to take care of it and feed it, in this article we show you how much a labrador puppy should eat.

Weaning of the mother

The first thing you should know is that the farmers are very eager for food, much more than other breeds, which is why you should ration them, because if they were, they would always eat. This is also one of the reasons why it is easier to train them, because they see a prize in food and pay more attention.

The labrador puppy grows very fast and soon they come out little teeth, small but sharp. At that time you should start with weaning little by little, as it will hurt the mother. This usually happens at 20 or 25 days of life. To do this, you start by introducing the special milk for puppies, so that you can get used to it, and then the weaning puppies (they can be found in any supermarket).

40 day puppy

Once the labrador puppy is forty days old, it is the moment when he should be given feed as a base for his feeding. To choose a good special feed for your breed, you should make sure that the packaging says: "special puppy food for large breeds". Never feed him a feed that is not special for puppies, nor any other type of food such as ham or rice, since the stomach of a labrador puppy is sensitive, and should be making your body to new food.

The labrador puppy must eat at fixed times, like humans, three times a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. You must give a total of 300 grams, divided into three meals: 100 grams in each of them. Once it is three months old, we will continue with three meals distributed, but we will increase the dose to 400 grams, divided into three: about 130 grams each time.

After six months

Once the labrador puppy is six months old, he will be fed two servings: breakfast and dinner. The daily amount increases to 500 grams and is divided into two times: 250 grams each time.

When it becomes an adult dog (one year), the most recommended by veterinarians is to eat in a daily ration, unless you have difficulty chewing and gobble, in which case the ration will be divided into two, but without increasing the quantity. The total grams that should be consumed in a day is between 500 and 570 grams, depending on the size of the dog. Also if you are a very active dog you can play with that margin, but do not exceed 600 grams, because the farmers have a tendency to gain weight and will never refuse food.
