How to convert MP3 files for the iPhone

The iPhone is a multimedia smart phone designed by Apple, which synchronizes its games, applications, videos and audio content with a computer using iTunes multimedia management software . ITunes can import music from CDs or from its existing digital audio library and transfer files on the iPhone . Audio files, such as MP3, and CD tracks can be converted to compatible alternatives with the iPhone using built-in iTunes function formats.

Download and install the latest version of iTunes on your computer, following the detailed installation instructions on the download website.

Run iTunes and insert the CD into the computer drive. You can also drag and drop your existing digital music files into the "Library" section in the left column of iTunes. The track of CDs or music files will be added to the iTunes library.

Click on "Edit" in the menu at the top of the iTunes window, and then select "Preferences."

Select the "General" tab, followed by the "Import settings ..." on the "When a CD is inserted" button. Although this section is labeled for CD settings, it is also used for all music files in the iTunes library.

Select the file format you want iTunes to convert your MP3s, CDs or other music files from the drop-down menu. Click on the "Accept" button to close the window after your selection is made, followed by the "OK" button in the "General" window.

Click on the "Music" in the iTunes section "Library". A list of current music files and CD tracks will appear in the main iTunes window. Select the tracks you want to convert and click on the "Advanced" menu at the top of the iTunes window.

Select "Create MP3 version" and iTunes will automatically become the selected track (s). If you have chosen to convert the files to a different format, the option in the "Advanced" menu reflects that choice. For example, it will say: "Create AAC version" instead of " Create MP3 version " if that is the format selected in iTunes preferences.
