How to connect a wireless mouse

A wireless mouse requires batteries and can come in either of the two main types: RF and Bluetooth. The radio frequency device works by establishing radio communication with a receiver - also called a receiver or protection device - that connects to the USB port. The modern receivers are very small, after connecting one, the only visible part looks like a plug that covers the port. A Bluetooth mouse requires a computer with a built-in Bluetooth receiver.

Steps to follow:

one

Turn the mouse upside down and locate the battery compartment. Remove the compartment cover and place the required number of batteries, paying attention to the positive and negative terminals indicated.

two

Connect the wireless receiver to an available USB port on your computer. If the wireless mouse has a power switch, put it in the "On" position.

3

Insert the manufacturer's installation disk, if available, into your computer's disk drive. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the required software and drivers. If there is no installation disk available, look for the latest version of the device driver software on the manufacturer's official website.

4

Find the sync button on the bottom of the wireless mouse, in your case. Following the manufacturer's specific instructions, press and hold the sync button for the duration required to pair the mouse with the computer and the wireless receiver. Some wireless mice do not require the use of a sync button and will automatically connect to the USB receiver.

Tips
  • It is always better to install the official drivers of the manufacturer when a new mouse is connected to your computer. The drivers can be found on the included disk, the USB wireless receiver, or the manufacturer's website. There are several Windows drivers that work with the mouse, but the official drivers allow you to take full advantage of all mouse functions and compatibilities.
