How to find the password for my Wi-Fi network

Wi-Fi passwords often help us maintain a certain level of privacy, in addition to restricting navigation to strangers or neighbors willing to steal the speed of our Internet. If you do not normally take care of the network and have rarely added new devices to it, you may have forgotten the security key you chose. Recovering it is easy if you can access the administration panel of the router, but since this is not always an option -especially if you do not usually be in charge of the network-, we offer you a safe and easy-to-use program that recovers the password of your Wi-Fi in three easy steps.

Steps to follow:

one

Although it may seem a bit obvious, in case you have never changed the password of your Wi-Fi network and keep the one assigned to you by default, the simplest is that you go to your modem or router and look for the bottom where the password is always entered. In this way, you only have to take note of the password and you will have obtained the password of your Wi-Fi network. However, the problem lies when it is not possible to carry out this simple solution because we have modified the password and now we are not able to remember it.

two

In case you have not been able to recover your Wi-Fi password yet, you should try from the configuration of the connections of your computer. In our case, we are going to do it from a PC with Windows 8 operating system; for previous versions, the steps are very similar.

So, you must go to the wireless network icon located next to the clock in the lower right bar of your screen and click with the right mouse button.

3

At this time, you will be presented with a drop-down menu with two options: the connection troubleshooting wizard and the opening of the Network and Sharing Center ; you must click on the second one.

Note that it is also possible to access this option through the control panel or by typing the command 'ncpa.cpl' in the Run box of the start menu (which you can open by pressing the Windows + R key combination).

4

Once this is done, you will be able to consult all the information about the connection through which you access the Internet and the networks to which you are connected. In this way, you must press on the name of your wireless or Wi-Fi connection in order to find out the password that you have forgotten.

5

At this moment, a pop-up window will open with the data of the connection: speed, duration, signal quality, etc. And you will have to click on the ' Wireless Properties ' button .

6

In the new window, change to the upper tab ' Security ' - by default it will open in 'Connection' - and activate the ' Show characters ' checkbox so that you can see all the alphanumeric characters of your Wi-Fi key. And ready! Now you can know the forgotten password of your wireless network and, above all, take good note (mental or written, as you prefer) of it.

7

If you do not find this method, it should be noted that there are also programs that can help you recover your password quickly; A good example will be downloading WirelessKeyView on a computer that can connect to a wireless network; for this you can continue doing this link. If you prefer the 64 bit version, you can also get it.

Extract the .zip to the location you want, such as the desktop. Once there, run and install the program. Take note of the keys that will appear right next to the networks. This network is really useful to help friends or family who do not remember the password of their wireless networks, it can even help you if you want to find out the security key of the school's Wi-Fi or work.

8

Ultimately, if you have not served the previous solutions, the most practical thing is that you call your Internet service provider, that is, the telecommunications company with whom you have contracted the connection.

You must explain to the customer service that you have forgotten the key of your Wi-Fi network, they will ask you for the data corresponding to the owner of the line - in case it is not you, look for them before calling - and you should ask them to reset the key of your network. In this way, they will assign a new password to your wireless connection and they will provide it to you.
