How to make a cardboard tractor

A toy that every child has when he is small is the tractor. One way to enjoy this toy is to create it yourself. Once done, move the tractor forward to one side or the other, directing it by means of the reel that turns as if it were the steering wheel. Look at the following article, how to make a tractor.

You will need to:
  • A hard cardboard box 27 cm long by 9 cm wide and 9 deep
  • Thick cardboard and plastic container
  • Corrugated cardboard and sandpaper
  • 2 small boxes 12 cm long and 4 cm wide
  • 1 small cardboard box without lid
  • 5 spools of thread and 3 pencils
  • A cardboard tube 10 cm long. Ropes and a plate
  • 6 thin sticks or straws
  • An egg holder cut out of an egg box
  • Scissors, glue and tape

First of all draw four circles on the cardboard, using the small dish as a guide. Cut them out Glue a circle to each end of a reel (b). Glue the other two circles to a second reel. Glue a strip of corrugated cardboard around the edges of two of the cardboard circles ©. Do the same, with the other two circles.

Next, make the front wheels the same way as the ones in the back, but much smaller. The cardboard circles , to give you an idea, should be like the lid of a yogurt.

Then put a thin stick of one 28 cm long in the middle of the small box and put the wheels one on each side of the stick. Roll adhesive tape around the stick, on either side of both wheels.

Then put another stick for another small box, this time 1 cm from the base. Put the front wheels on the ends of the pole, one on each side. Wind tape around the stick, on each side of the wheels.

Put two pencils together and attach them with adhesive tape, as in drawing (a). Put the vertical pencil into the box that makes the front axle. Hold the horizontal pencil firmly to the box with tape (b).

Then stick the box that makes the rear axle, below one end of the hard cardboard box. Insert the vertical pencil of the front axle through a hole in the other end of the box.

Glue corrugated cardboard to sandpaper around a reel. Put a pencil in the reel (a). Insert the tip of the pencil through the back of the motor housing (b).

Wind a piece of string around the reel. Tie one end to the side of the front axle, passing it below the rear axle first. Take the other end and do the same operation. Try to stay tense.

Glue the box without cover to the rear axle. Attach two 26 cm long sticks to the two corners with tape . Insert another two sticks 15 cm long in the box that makes the engine. Look at the drawing.

Finally, put a polyurethane plastic tray on top of the four poles. Glue the cardboard tube on the pencil on the front of the engine. Place the egg holder on top of the tube.
