How to make a Grand Prix car race at home

Make your own track and launch your cars to compete . They will walk better if the floor has no carpet. You can make the circuits the way you like. All you have to do is tie the strings to the legs of a few more chairs. If the strings slip and get out of the wheels, separate the wheel chairs to make them tense again. The winner will be the first car to reach the finish line. Look at the following article on how to make Grand Prix car races.

You will need to:
  • Two little toy cars
  • A round cardboard cheese box
  • Two thick strings of 5 m long each.
  • Two horseshoe magnets
  • A sheet of sandpaper
  • Two large nails
  • Two pencils
  • Two caps or lids for pens
  • A large piece of cardboard
  • Four empty metal containers and strong glue
Steps to follow:

one

Draw four circles on the cardboard using the cheese box as a guide (a). Cut out the four circles giving them 1 cm more around the drawn ones. Glue two circles on each side of the cheese box lid to form the two wheels (b). Glue a strip of sandpaper around the wheels ©.

two

Then insert two nails into the two ends of a piece of cardboard . Tape on the head of the nails. Put the nails through the center of the wheels, passing them through.

3

Then stick a cap or ballpoint pen over each nail making sure the glue does not pass through them. Insert a pencil inside each wheel near the edge. Glue them in place.

4

Tie the magnet to the two ends of a piece of string holding it with a knot. Do the same with the other piece of string.

5

Then place the cardboard with the wheels on the floor. Put the leg of a table or a chair on top. Tie a rope around each wheel - insert the front legs of two chairs into the containers. Put the ropes around the containers. Gently separate the wheel chairs until the cords are well stretched.

6

Then try to stick the cars to the magnets . If this is not possible, take a small, thick screw and attach it to the front with strong adhesive tape .

7

Tape another piece of cardboard in front of the first one. Draw or paint an exit line and an arrival line under each rope.

8

To make the cars run, roll the magnets back to the starting lines. Stick a car to each magnet. To the order of departure each player will go coiled his control or corresponding wheel to drive the cars forward. If a car separates from its magnet, it rolls the control in the opposite direction or restores the magnet to the car.
