How to detect fake Euro banknotes

Modern graphic reproduction techniques allow quality copies of any printed material. But euro notes have a combination of different security elements that make their counterfeiting very difficult. Still many times we have had in our hands fake euros bills of different values ​​or denominations, it is for this reason that below we give some tips to detect fake notes and thus avoid problems.

Touch an original ticket and get used to its texture and color, as each denomination has a dominant color that helps its identification. It is a firm, resistant and rough texture, which is lost with the use of the bill.

The size of the banknotes varies, the greater the value, the larger its size. Therefore the smallest is € 5 and the largest is € 500.

The main characteristics that we find in the banknotes are: 1. the name of the currency written in Latin characters (EURO) and Greek (EYPW). 2. The initials of the European Central Bank in five linguistic variants -BCE, ECB, EZB, EKT and EKP- which are the eleven official languages ​​of the European Community. 3. the symbol © indicative of legal protection (copyright). 4. The signature of Willem F. Duisenberg, president of the European Central Bank. 5. The flag of the European Union.

Another feature is the printing of the face value of the banknotes in large figures and darker ink, as well as the use of relief printing on some elements of the banknotes.

Other security elements found in euro banknotes are seen looking at the banknote inclining or backlighting. 1. watermark: you can see an image and the value of the ticket. 2. security thread: when looking at the bill to the light you can see a dark line. 3.hologram: if we tilt the ticket to the right of the front of this one, we can see the architectural motif and the figure that indicates the value of the ticket. This happens in the most valuable banknotes: 50, 100, 200 and 500. 4. the color of the ink changes: in the euro banknotes of greater value when tilting its back, the figure that indicates the value of the banknote changes a color purple to a green or brown color.
