What is liquefied petroleum gas or LPG?

What is LPG used for?

This fuel can be used to refuel cars with gasoline engines, since the gas behaves in a very similar way to when it is injected into the cylinders, although it is necessary to carry out a previous transformation in the vehicle. Likewise, diesel vehicles are excluded, due to the fact that they operate by compression.

Some brands of cars already manufacture cars prepared as standard to operate with LPG and, likewise, the authorized workshops can add an additional deposit (because the gasoline must be kept to start) for liquefied petroleum gas.

What are the advantages of LPG?

Although vehicles prepared to operate with LPG may have a higher initial cost than gasoline, the fact is that this extra cost is amortized by the fact that the price per liter of LPG is almost half that of gasoline . In addition, it should be noted that taxes on liquefied petroleum gas are frozen until 2018.

On the other hand, it should be noted that vehicles with LPG have a lower emission of polluting gases. Likewise, in the Spanish case, vehicles of this type also benefit from the discounts offered by the State Pive Plan.

What are the disadvantages of LPG?

On the other hand, it must be said that not all gas stations have this fuel, so you should make sure that in your city or area you can find LPG for refueling. Although it is also true that vehicles with liquefied petroleum gas always run on gasoline.

Another remarkable fact is that the second tank is usually installed in the trunk (or in the spare wheel well), so this space can be reduced and pose a problem to some drivers who need a lot of space.
