How to register a quad

When registering a quad we have to know how it is cataloged by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), which is the body in charge of carrying out the procedure. To establish the types of quads, the DGT takes into account factors such as the weight of the vehicle and the maximum speed it can reach, basically. Types of quad

The DGT establishes that there are 3 kinds of quad :

  • Light quadricycles: They weigh less than 350 kilos, do not exceed 45 kilometers per hour. The maximum power of the engine is 50 cc. or 4 KW.
  • Non-light quadricycles: The weight is between 350 and 400 kilos as general normal or 500 if it is for goods and the maximum power is 15 KW.
  • Special vehicles: A quad is considered that way if it exceeds the limits of the previous category.

Light quadricycles

The license plate is yellow with the black letters. These vehicles do not have to pass the ITV. With these quad, you will not have to pay the special tax on certain means of transport. Yes that will have to pay the fee on the vehicle of mechanical traction. The rest of the procedures are the same as any ordinary registration.

Non-light quadricycles

Special vehicles

The license plate of these quads are white with the letters in red and their registration process is the same as that of the rest of the special vehicles, which are adjusted to the procedures of the ordinary registration .
