How to make a safe motorcycle driving course

The fact of driving a motorcycle, whether for leisure or simple need, can be fun but sometimes dangerous. To reduce the risk involved in the two wheels, there are places where safe driving courses for motorcycles are taught, especially those with a large displacement. These centers have their own facilities and vehicles to carry out the relevant practices. Courses tend to be divided by levels according to the experience of the pilot although it is always advisable to start at the basic level.

You will need to:
  • motorcycle
  • full helmet
  • gloves
  • monkey
  • motorcycle boots
  • cap and sunglasses (recommended)
Steps to follow:

one

Get in touch with a center where they teach safe motorcycle driving courses . In the province of Barcelona you can find some, like the FAST center in Castellolí.

two

You have to take your own bike with which you will do most of the course, except for emergency braking maneuvers with and without ABS.

3

You must have the driving license A in force, which authorizes you to carry any type of motorcycle without limitation of displacement or power.

4

The first course is 4h in a day and it can cost you around € 140. The second is an improvement course, with which the price can amount to € 180 and the duration is 8h in a day.

5

The day of the course, it is essential that you bring your own equipment to go on a motorcycle, ie full-face helmet, gloves, overalls and boots.

6

In the first level you can learn the ideal driving position and the safest, the braking techniques with and without ABS and ESP in different surfaces and the techniques of turning and counter-maneuvers.

7

The second level offers you the possibility to practice what you have learned in level 1 for more time, and you also perform slalom and dodge maneuvers and curve design in a competition circuit with your motorcycle.

Tips
  • In sunny days and intense heat I recommend that you take a cap and sunglasses as the course is given outdoors.
