How to write yogurt or yogurt

The confusion may be due to the etymology of the word yogurt, since it comes from the Turkish term yoğurt, which means to mix, and each language has adapted it by writing it in a different way depending also on its pronunciation.

Yogurt

On the contrary, the term 'yogurt' IS registered in the RAE and, therefore, we must always write it in this way and without final 't'. It is a masculine noun that expresses the following meaning:

  • "Variety of fermented milk, which is prepared by reducing it by evaporation to half its volume and subjecting it to the action of a ferment called maya ".
