How to teach letters to preschool children

Preschoolers are like little sponges. The teaching of letters can be done throughout the day during regular activities and at certain times left aside for learning. All you need to start teaching the letters is a little creativity, the willingness to use any time to teach and a preschooler who is interested in learning about the world.

You will need to:
  • Salt
  • Tray or pan with 2-inch sides
  • Magnetic letters
  • Foam letters
Steps to follow:

one

Help the children identify the sounds and the names of the letters . You can use magnetic or foam letters and ask your child to pick up a letter to learn. Say the sound while the preschooler is asked to repeat after you, say the name of the letter. Point out the letter and sound of objects, containers and signs that you see in the house. You can also do it while you're outside the house.

two

Use creativity to teach letters to preschoolers. There are many ideas to creatively involve your child, such as using apple seeds to represent the letter "m", representing the letter "a" with a blue dress, the letter "v" with green shine, and making Mom reigns for a day to celebrate the letter "M". Use your imagination to teach the letters to your child and enjoy the process.

3

Show your preschooler how to write letters with salt, sand or paint. Tracking and writing letters with paint or salt is an effective way to start teaching preschoolers how to write letters. Get familiar with the proper direction and letter formation before you need to master a pencil.

4

Choose a magnetic or foam card, and put it on top of the pan. Say the sound and show the child how the letter is written. Allow the child to trace the letter, soften the salt and start writing the lyrics alone. If the child becomes disinterested save the activity and take it out at another time.

Tips
  • Rotate the letters learning activities to keep it fresh and attractive for your preschooler.
