How to find the diameter of a star

There are several ways to accurately measure the diameter of a star . The first, and most accurate, is used by astronomers. It is about actually measuring the speed of a star at any point in time and measuring the amount of time it takes a star to travel between two points in its orbit. The diameter of the stars can be calculated by multiplying their speed by time. However, since most of us do not have the equipment to measure the speed of a star, we must resort to simpler measures.

Steps to follow:

Search, whether in a textbook or online, the relationship between the brightness of the star and the brightness of the sun. Take the square root of this value. You can calculate the star radius of the formula (radius of the star) / (radius of the Sun) = (temperature of the sun / star temperature) ^ 2 --- square [luminosity star / luminosity Sol].

Look for the relationship between the temperature of the Sun and the temperature of the star. Make the square of this value.

Calculate the relationship between the radius of the star and the radius of the Sun, multiplying its value from step 2 by its value from step 1.

Multiply the value in step 3 by the radius of the Sun (695, 000 kilometers). This will give you the radius of the star.

Multiply the radius previously found by 2 to calculate the diameter of the star.
