How to make a simple sailor knot

The simple sailor knot is also known as the thumb knot. It is one of the simplest and most known knots that exist. It is usually used as a stop knot and runs at regular intervals on rescue lines. It is usually the base knot to make many other knots. For that reason it is good that you know how to make a simple sailor knot.

Steps to follow:

You must form a breast with the free whip, passing it on the firm.

You must insert the whip inside the formed breast, below the firm.

Once the simple sailor knot is finished, it is tightened pulling the whip in the opposite direction to the firm one.
