How to make the game of the fishing rod

This game is a race against the clock, you have to catch as many cork fish as you can before the salt passes to the other side of the hourglass. This game is similar to the typical ducks that are in the fairs of the village festivals. The goal is the same, to fish the maximum number of fish or ducks. It is recommended that this game is made with more than 2 people but if I am two you can also play. Look at the following article if you want to know how to make the game of the fishing rod.

You will need to:
  • 6 corks and a little felt
  • Strong glue and white paper
  • A stick about 50 cm long
  • Rope, paint and scissors
  • A hairpin or thin wire
  • A plastic bottle
  • A glass jar or container
  • Salt or fine sand
  • 6 forks or hooks
Steps to follow:

one

First of all paint the six corks of different colors. Nail a hook in the center of each cork or put a fork inside the cork. Look at the drawing.

two

Next, cut two pieces of felt wide enough to wrap the cork halfway (a). Glue the felt to the cork and paint the eyes (b). Do the same with the six corks.

3

Then cut out six pieces of white paper and stick them on the bottom of the corks. Paint numbers from 1 to 6, as seen in the drawing.

4

Finally, tie a piece of rope about 58 cm long at one end of the pole, fishing rod. Bend a hook-shaped fork (a) and tie it to the end of the rope (b).

5

To make the hourglass cut the plastic bottle in half and also cut the tip of the bottle (a). Paint the bottle with bright colors and let it dry. Close the lid of the bottle and put it face down inside the glass container. Fill the bottle with salt or fine sand (b). Make sure there are no lumps in it.

6

How to play: put the fish with the hooks up and form turns to hook the fish with the rod. Add the numbers of the fish you caught after each play. The play lasts as long as it takes the sand or salt to pass on the other side of the hourglass, made with the plastic bottle. The first player to count 20 points will win the game.
