When the Eco occurs

Greek legend says that a nymph named Eco entertained with his account to Hera, the wife of the god Zeus, while he had fun with other nymphs. Hera discovered the deception and in punishment she condemned Eco to repeat only the last syllable of the word he was listening to. Next we explain when the Eco occurs.

Steps to follow:

one

There must be a certain distance for the echo to occur. It is estimated that for the sounds in general a minimum of 17 meters is necessary, but for the human voice at least 35 meters are required so that the reflected syllables can be heard clearly.

two

This is because a limited number of syllables can be pronounced and heard clearly in a second. Therefore, as the sound rises 340 meters per second, it will take a tenth of a second to trip over the reflective obstacle, 34 meters away, and another tenth of a second to return to the starting point.

3

If the distance was less than 34 meters, then both sounds would be superimposed, confused and could not be heard distinctly, clearly, then the Eco would not occur.

4

When there are obstacles located facing each other, as in the case of mountains, walls, cliffs, etc. multiple echoes occur. Something very curious: the clouds also produce an echo. This is the reason why a cannon shot in the sea, but under a sky covered with clouds, echoes. To the same cause obeys the prolonged rumble of thunder.
