How to teach children the numbers

Between 3 and 4 years old children can already learn the different numbers and the rules we use to measure the quantities: their shape and name, the order in which they go, that can not be repeated, and so on. There are many ways to make learning easier for children, but above all we must ensure that it is a natural and entertaining teaching, so we offer some advice on how to teach children the numbers .

Steps to follow:

one

Write the numbers on cards and put them scrambled in a pile and face down, to play with the child to take a random card and try to guess what number it is. When you succeed, you have to congratulate him and show him that he is doing very well, to stimulate him.

two

At such an early age it is likely that psychomotor skills are not fully developed and some find it difficult to write well with a pen and a pen on paper. If you still want them to learn to write the numbers on their own, you can have them write them with their finger on a pile of sand, a blackboard full of chalk or even the touch screen of a tablet.

3

Try to make the learning as natural as possible and not give the impression of being another task. For example, you can ask at the time of the story for the number of figures shown in the illustrations.

4

Take advantage of everyday situations for the child to make their own reasoning and review concepts. For example, ask at the time of setting the table to put three spoons, indicating three fingers of the hand to help you understand, or asking for an exact amount of something else during any other situation.

5

Play to make the purchase, with coins and toy products. At the beginning you can make each coin worth 1 and for each you can buy a product, and when you have learned to tell the basics, you can complicate the game and use coins with different values: a coin with a 2 voucher for two products, and so on.

6

The songs are a great method to teach anything to young children, because they have fun and learn without realizing it. If you do not know any children's song to learn the numbers, you can always ask your parents or grandparents, or even resort to the Internet.

7

More than as a solution or substitute, didactic toys can be a good complement to the teaching we are giving our children. In any toy store you can find games and dolls specially designed to teach numbers to children of these ages, and that can always be a good resource. But above all, try not to be a boring toy.
