How to celebrate a Mexican Inn

Christmas is a time to celebrate family holidays and strengthen ties with our loved ones. The Posadas Mexicanas are the traditional festivities to celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus and in which Mexicans take the opportunity to spend at a good time with their family and friends-

Steps to follow:

one

The Christmas posadas are celebrated during the nine days before Christmas, that is from December 16 to 24. In these festivities, representations of the pilgrimage of Mary and Joseph are made from their departure from Nazareth to the arrival in Bethlehem, accompanied by songs or Christmas carols to encourage the religious spirit and provoke emotions of joy and friendship among the guests

In addition to these representations, there is the traditional moment in which the piñata is broken and fireworks are lit, all accompanied by a delicious Christmas punch, candles, fruits and sweets typical of Mexico .

To represent the event of requesting an inn, you can use figures of the pilgrims (of those who are placed in the births) or two volunteers can represent Joseph and Mary, and once this is ready, the pilgrims accompanied by a group of guests to the inn leaves the house and asks for an inn at the door, singing the traditional Christmas carols.

4

On the other hand, the people who stayed inside the house must deny the inn forcing the pilgrims to ask for an inn two or three times, until they authorize them to stay with the carols.

Tips
  • The Christmas piñata should be a piñata with 7 peaks that represent the 7 deadly sins and that should be full of sweets that represent the grace of God.
  • The Christmas Punch can never be missing in this type of events.
