Euskera is the only non-Indo -European language of Western Europe, and has managed to remain until today after thousands of years. In the last decades there is a great interest in recovering its daily use and revitalizing it, especially since the approval of the 1978 Constitution, and there are many alternatives to learn the Basque language without spending a euro. Ikasten is the initiative of online teaching of Basque sponsored by the Directorate of Lifelong Learning of the Department of Education, Universities and Research of the Basque Government . It has more than 60 teaching units for all levels, from beginner to advanced level, and has many videos, sound files, exercises and review units.

In Habe Ikasbil, an initiative also of the Basque Government, you will have access to a complete repository of manuals, magazines, course listings, linguistic rules and links to websites related to Basque. It is a very complete and useful resource for the student.

You can complete your grammatical learning with resources like those you will find in Radio Kultura . This website is in French, but it includes a lot of content in Basque, especially radio programs, and it can be very useful to accustom the ear to the pronunciation of the language.

In the learning portal My Languages.org you have an introductory course with vocabulary and grammar lessons that will be useful for those who want to have a first contact with the Basque language.
