How to make a periscope

  • A sheet of cardboard 42 cm long by 42 cm wide
  • 2 strips of cardboard about 32 cm long by 8 cm wide
  • 2 small mirrors about 8 cm long and 6 cm wide

To begin with, measure four columns of about 10 cm wide and one of 2 cm wide in the large cardboard sheet. Put the ruler on each line and pass the scissors over to mark them.

Fold the cardboard along the lines to form a long box and cut out a 5 x 5 cm window near the bottom and another near the top on the opposite side.

Next, measure three columns of 8 cm wide and one of 2 cm wide on the two cardboard strips. Mark the lines and tape a mirror over each one. Look at the drawing.

Fold the strips up, leaving the mirrors on the outside, and give them the shape of a triangle. Fold the flap of each strip also upwards and fasten the ends to the flaps with tape.

Place a triangle on the bottom of the box, with the flap on the outside, as you see in the drawing. Attach the triangle to the box with adhesive tape.
