How to make a bubble boat

This experiment is very fun and above all children will enjoy a lot and will not stop playing. You can make a boat that sails in the bathtub by its own impulse with only four steps. If you tilt the tube placed to the side of the bottom, you can make the boat turn around the bathtub. Look at the following article to see how to make a bubble boat .

You will need to:
  • A plastic bottle with a stopper.
  • Sodium bicarbonate (this is used in the kitchen).
  • Vinegar.
  • Fine paper or a tissue.
  • A plastic straw or the empty tube of a ballpoint pen.
  • Plasticine and scissors.
Steps to follow:

one

First with scissors, make a small hole in the bottom of the bottle, near the edge as shown in the image.

two

Then insert the plastic straw into the hole, only 1 cm until it fits. Push the straw a little down and put plasticine around it holding the straw and filling the hole.

3

Then pour some baking soda on a piece of paper or paper tissue (a). Wrap the paper with the bicarbonate and roll the ends, as in drawing (b).

4

Finally, pour some vinegar into the bottle . Insert the paper with the baking soda. Cover the bottle as quickly as possible and place it gently in the bathtub full of water and leave it.

5

Why does it work? When the paper is moistened with the vinegar, it unfolds. The bicarbonate and the vinegar unfolds. The bicarbonate and the vinegar when mixed form a lot of gas and foam. The gas comes out through the plastic straw and pushes the boat.
