How to do the rainbow experiment

You can make the colors appear and disappear. Paint a circle with the seven colors of the rainbow . They are red, orange, yellow, green, blue indigo and violet and then spin the circle very fast. You will need to:
  • A cup
  • Thick cardboard
  • Color red, yellow, green, blue indigo, violet and orange
  • Rope
Steps to follow:

First place a cup upside down on a piece of thick cardboard and trace the circle of the cup. Carefully cut the circle with scissors.

Then draw six lines from the center of the circle to the outer edge and form seven sections . Paint each section a rainbow color, just like in the drawing.

Then make two holes in the circle, with a distance between them of about 2 cm. Insert the ends of a piece of string one meter long through the holes. Knot the ends.

To finish hold the rope as in the drawing. Turn the target so that the rope is wound. Stretch the fingers and let the rope go unrolling. This will spin the bullseye.

Why it happens When the circle turns very fast, our eyes see the colors, but they come mixed with our brains. Our brains tell us that the target has a grayish white color.

  • If you want you can paint the circle red, yellow, green, blue.
