How to measure the oil level of a car

Conventional cars, operate with an internal combustion engine. The oil is a liquid whose function is to lubricate the metallic parts of the motor and to reduce the friction in the moving parts to avoid their wear. A well-lubricated engine also reduces fuel consumption and increases horsepower. That is why it is very important that you know how to measure the oil level of a car.

Steps to follow:

one

You must turn off your car and let it cool, this will cause the oil to drop to its normal level, because the elevated temperature that is a running engine causes the oil to heat up and expand.

two

Once the car has cooled down, you must raise the hood and you have to look for the oil dipstick, it is usually in a well visible place and normally it has written OIL or OIL.

3

You have to pull this rod and you have to clean it with a dry cloth and put it back in its place. The first time you take out the dipstick, it is not useful to measure the oil level because you think that your car has been in motion before and the oil level has been moving.

4

Pull the rod again and pull it all out of the hole.

5

You should notice that the rod has two marks, one of maximum and another of minimum. Well your oil level should be located between these two marks, preferably rather located towards the maximum line.

6

If your oil level is approaching the minimum line, as a precaution you should go to your mechanic to get more oil in your engine.

Tips
  • In new cars, you will see that the car almost does not spend oil and that the level always stays the same, but in old cars as a precaution you must control the oil level every week.
