How to make the child pick up his toys

After 2 and a half years the child enters a critical stage in relation to the disorder. At this age children begin to feel autonomous and confident of their movements and have the need to explore and spread toys (and what are not toys) throughout the house. This is also the time when we should begin to instill in the child the habit of picking up toys as part of the game itself. The objective is for the child to keep his toys, to understand that collecting toys is not a punishment and that he understands the main advantage of order: that when he wants to play and look for his toys he will always know where to find them.

Steps to follow:

one

It involves the child in real daily activities that involve putting everything in its place such as keeping the purchase or clean clothes in drawers and cabinets. In this way the child sees that adults also keep their things.

two

Play the mess: Keep a stuffed animal in the fridge, yogurts in the closet or your coat in the bathroom closet ... Laugh with the child about the ridiculous situation and have it corrected.

3

The place to store the toys should be appropriate to the height and strength of the child and the size of the toys

4

If the child leaves a toy without saving do not keep it

5

If the child keeps a toy in the wrong place applauds the effort and if the wrong place is reasonable do not correct it: it is your idea of order.

6

We must have reasonable expectations and not ask for impossible. The child will not pick up the toys overnight

Tips
  • From the age of 3-4, many children begin to play with toys such as Lego or Playmobil that require very long play sessions that are interrupted throughout the day. Do not try to order these toys. Where you see a jumble of unconnected pieces the child sees a castle with a fantastic story in development. You must allow the child to resume the game easily.
